BIM Coordinator Position

JOB DESCRIPTION

The BIM Coordinator will lead BIM modeling efforts for assigned projects, building on advanced Revit and Navisworks expertise. This role combines hands-on modeling with project leadership, enabling the individual to independently manage electrical BIM deliverables from start to finish. The BIM Coordinator works closely with Field Teams, Project Management, General Contractors (GC), and other trades to ensure accurate, clash-free models and timely shop drawings. They may supervise and delegate tasks to BIM Modelers while maintaining high standards of quality, coordination, and schedule adherence. The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented leader with strong communication skills, problem solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position is ideal for an experienced BIM Modeler ready to take on greater responsibility, project autonomy, and team coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently run complete BIM projects (or lead them) as needed, including full electrical content modeling in Revit
  • May directly supervise one or more BIM Modelers on assigned projects: delegate tasks, provide guidance, review work, and ensure overall project quality and deadlines are met
  • Coordinate with Field Teams and Project Management to develop and maintain accurate Revit models of
    electrical content
  • Coordinate with the GC and other trades via phone, email, and collaborative platforms to resolve issues and integrate designs
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly GC BIM Meetings
  • Attend TE Project Team weekly meetings to report modeling progress, discuss challenges, and identify potential RFIs
  • For project-related questions, proactively reach out directly to the assigned Project Manager or Field Team for timely resolution; report overall project issues and progress to the BIM Manager
  • Read and interpret electrical/construction blueprints, contract document floor plans, and one-line diagrams; able to initiate modeling independently if markups are not provided at project start
  • Draft 2D detailed layouts into comprehensive 3D Revit models
  • Perform clash detection and coordination in Navisworks Manage; resolve clashes with other disciplines
  • Produce Navisworks models for Field Teams and Project Management to support progress tracking and decisionmaking
  • Create and manage Revit families, schedules, sheets, views, templates, filters, and related functions
  • Ensure quality control for all shop drawings and deliverables
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (civil, mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural) to maintain model
    integrity
  • Work from home if experience and productivity meet company standards
  • Participate in Microsoft Teams project meetings
  • Stay on schedule, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
  • Maintain exceptional organization, problem-solving, and communication skills

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Electrical drafting and/or field experience
  • Construction knowledge
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Evolve MEP and Microsoft Teams

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Computerized Drafting Associates degree or equivalent, plus significant relevant work experience
  • Proficient, advanced knowledge in Revit is REQUIRED (must demonstrate ability to independently manage full projects)
  • Strong experience with Navisworks Manage for clash detection and model production
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and coordinate with multiple stakeholders (Field, PM, GC, trades)
  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, floor plans, and one-line diagrams
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently while also effectively supervising others when required
  • Ability to pass a drug test
